College Football National Championship Best Bet Sweep

The January 19 College Football National Championship produced another complete Best Bet sweep.

The top-rated 5-Unit selection on Miami +7½ covered in a 27–21 battle with Indiana.

Miami entered the championship 7–0 against Top-25 opponents, including victories over the previous season’s championship-game participants, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

The Hurricanes also held a substantial size advantage. Miami had 10 players weighing at least 320 pounds, while Indiana had no players reaching 300.

Miami had lost only five games during the previous two seasons, and none of those defeats came by more than seven points.

The second championship selection featured Under 23½ points in the first half.

As anticipated, the two physical teams spent the opening half feeling each other out. Only 10 combined points were scored, producing a 10–0 halftime score and completing the sweep.

Illinois State Covers the Postseason Game of the Year

The Strong 5-Unit College Football Postseason Game of the Year featured Illinois State +10½ against Montana State in the FCS Championship.

Illinois State came within one point of completing a massive upset in an overtime thriller.

The Redbirds became the first team ever to win four consecutive road playoff games on the way to the championship. It was also the first FCS title game in a decade without a Dakota State program participating.

Illinois State finished 10–1 straight-up on the road and nearly defeated a Montana State team that entered on a 13-game winning streak.

Fresno State Covers the Opening Bowl Best Bet

The opening Bowl top-rated 5-Unit Best Bet featured Fresno State -5½ in the Arizona Bowl.

Fresno State covered comfortably in an 18–3 victory over Miami-Ohio.

Miami-Ohio entered without its No. 1 receiver, an All-Conference offensive lineman, one of the nation’s top edge rushers and the starting quarterback who had left the team in November.

LateWager clients also learned that Fresno State’s first-year coaching staff had granted no media access to practices, indicating that the Bulldogs were approaching the bowl game with serious preparation and focus.

Western Michigan Wins a Conference Crown Behind a Quarterback Mismatch

The Championship Saturday Marquee 4-Unit Best Bet featured Western Michigan -1½ in the Mid-American Conference Championship.

Western Michigan quarterback Broc Lowry was one of only four quarterbacks in the country to pass for at least 1,500 yards while rushing for at least 800.

Miami-Ohio was forced to use a third-string freshman quarterback who had not worked with the starting receivers during spring or fall camp.

Western Michigan covered with ease, taking full advantage of the quarterback mismatch.

Washington Covers in a 19-Point Revenge Victory

The first Strong 4-Unit College Football selection of the season featured Washington -9½.

The Huskies covered in a 19-point victory against an opponent making its 2025 road debut.

Washington also carried significant revenge motivation following the previous season’s controversial loss at Rutgers.

Quarterback Demond Williams delivered a historic performance, becoming only the 16th quarterback ever to pass for more than 400 yards while rushing for at least 100 yards in the same game.

Navy Wins Outright on Thanksgiving

The Thanksgiving sweep also included a Marquee 4-Unit Best Bet on Navy +3½.
